The Costs of Cancellations

We’ve all been there; you’re all set for your dental appointment and then out of nowhere something pops up and you have to cancel! It’s happened to the best of and is often unavoidable. However, there is a huge cost associated with these cancellations or no-shows. One health technologies company estimated that across all medical fields tens of billions of lost revenue is due to no-shows. In our practice alone, approximately 500 dollars a week in revenue never materializes due to last minute cancellations or no-shows.

So what can you do to help us out? The number one thing that can alleviate the financial loss from a no-show is to give us as much advance warning as possible prior to having to cancel. If we know even a day beforehand that you can’t come in, we can likely fill your slot with another patient. This makes another patient happy, keeps our staff busy, and allows us to keep costs down across the board.

We know that life is unpredictable and that circumstances are sometimes out of your control. We understand that. However, if you have a chance to give us some advance notice that you won’t make it in to your appointment, we would be greatly appreciative and would love to help you reschedule.
